Eelmen Empty
PostSubject: Eelmen   Eelmen I_icon_minitimeThu May 17, 2012 6:04 am

AKA: Slithershocks, slimes and plenty of other names. Their actual name is unpronounceable with human vocal chords, so they tend to go by whatever nicknames other people come up with.

Description
Eelmen tend to range greatly in their skin coloring. Some have a stripe over the top half of their entire bodies, some have spots on their underbelly, some have both. What is generally seen among the species is a long, thin body standing around 7-7.5 feet tall with long tails and long limbs. Two small fins can be spotted near their necks. They never grow hair, though some of them grow fins on top of their heads. Some have even grown "whiskers" on their face. Females tend to have webbed fingers and a slightly rounder frame, though the distinctions can be difficult to notice among outsiders.

Almost all Eelmen have sharp, needle-like teeth and avoid smiling with them around other species. Most Eelmen are born with the natural ability to shock other creatures through their fingers and bodies and are completely carnivorous. In compliance with the norms of most of their business partners, then can be been wearing suits and other "regular clothes", though they rarely carry umbrellas.

Lifespan
Eelmen tend to have relatively lifespans when compared to humans, growing old around 60 and dying at 80. They are usually born in water and develop arms and legs over a two month period. During this period it is not unknown for their young to cannibalize each other, though it is typically seen as a "children will be children" sort of deal.

Habitat
Eelmen thrive on wet environments and tend not to last well on islands that are not nearly constantly rained upon. While some of them have developed wetsuits for the sake of exploration. They also usually require a stead intake of the shellfish and fish that they're taken to eating.

Relationship with Other Species
Unlike most other species, the Eelmen tend to see humans as harmless and even somewhat endearing. In fact, some Eelmen can take a liking to a human and will keep them as an unknowing feral pet, generally offering them dinners and gifts. It's generally accepted that they can become a pest species if they continue to try and take more land from the Slithershocks, but for now they are seen more as cute than threatening.

There is a bit of concern about vampires and werewolves and if it will cross over into their own species. A movement has been created to try and cure both of these ailments in order to avoid having the entire human population infected by them.

They tend to take the Centricrus a bit more seriously, though are more than willing to barter with them so long as they remain mostly on the parts of the isladns the Shocks can not inhabit themselves.

They tend to have quite a bit worry about dragons, though luckily have almost no contact with them thanks to the storms that make flight difficult for most creatures in the area. Most other species are judged based on their carnivorous nature, size and technology.
