Name: Tentcher of Kirvite Academy
Age: 41
Race: Centicrus
Occupation: Tinker

Appearance: A light brown Centicrus whose carapace still has a little bit of leather to it. He has several dents and pockmarks, along with a single, thin gash that runs along his third segment. He's generally healthy for a Centicrus, but is abnormally thin, which gives him a stringy and undernourished appearance.

Tentcher gives off an air of nervousness, even in situations he's perfectly comfortable with. This is partially because he tends to twitch a little, looking around during conversation, and partially because of his introverted speech. This tendency isn't helped by the clothes he wears. Coarse grey jackets, oil-smeared work shirts and a checkered fophat do not exude respectability or confidence.

Personality Tentcher can be easily identified as a nervous introvert at a glance. He exudes a common air of nervousness, and when he speaks it is in soft tones and short, cut-up sentences. When the other party gets angry or combative backs down quickly or avoids further altercations because of a dislike for conflict.

But none of this nervousness should be mistaken for incompetence. When he is comfortable enough to speak Tentcher can show an intriguing, if simplistic, insight. His skill with machines and devices is unmatched, and he thoroughly enjoys simple inventiveness. His skittishness comes from his lack of firm grounding; Tentcher is still not sure what his purpose in life is. His stint in the Navy burned in him a severe dislike of conflict, but moving to Central City has been far less therapeutic than he hoped. Life is passing by and he's still not quite sure what to make of it.

History Tentcher was adopted and raised Centicrus-style at Kirvite Academy, a small but respectable school in the city of Ciric. He was a good but unremarkable student, growing comfortably within the sheltered and tight-knit community of Kirvite. He made several close friends and was well liked among his peers. As a child he lacked much of his later nervousness; he was noticeably introverted, but was easily comfortable with his peers.

Although Kirvite Academy didn't have the resources to provide a top-notch education, it was respectable enough to score Tentcher a post in the Imperial Navy after his graduation. His brief stint as an assistant gunner on board the LNS Bastion would have a profound effect on Tentcher. He found the military's strict hierarchy intimidating, and although he soon earned a reputation as a masterful tinker and engineer he also managed to gain the enmity of one of his commanding officers.

His career came to a head when the Bastion was severely damaged during the Battle of Feyral Village. Tentcher was among the half the crew that survived, but was severely wounded and had lost all of his close crewmates. He resigned with honors after recovering from his wounds and moved to Central City.

Unfortunately, Tentcher's years in Central City as an all-purpose tinker and engineer haven't had the effect he hoped for. He's had a hard time making friends or earning respect in the bustling city, and his habit of avoiding conflict has only solidified with time. Lately he's started looking for an opportunity to leave, realizing that his situation isn't improving.

Abilities Tentcher is a masterful tinker. He has is not a certified or trained mechanic, buthe has the ability to take scraps and damaged equipment and turn it into functional devices. Give him enough scrap metal, wiring, and piping and he can fix any engine. When working on machines he also tends to be highly meticulous, maintaining every part with the utmost care.

His childhood at Kirvite Academy and his stint with the military have also given him a modest education. He understands scientific principles, knows basic world history and is familiar with the different races and nations of Icarus. In his military years he learned how to handle a gun (although he hasn't handled one in years) and how to use and maintain an anti-ship cannon.

Finally, Tentcher has access to the basic "abilities" of his race. His vision is spectacularly bad, but he has an extremely acute sense of hearing and can determine the presence of others by the vibrations they cause on the ground. His sense of smell is similarly acute. Centicrus also have the ability to grip the ground and ignore gravity, walking along the walls and ceiling the same way they would the floor. His carapace is about as tough as leather armor, and the venom in his mandibles could cause excruciating pain if he bit someone.
